Shilpa Shetty sailed in like a gilded liner, actors Shiney Ahuja and Irrfan Khan flanking her. Photographers and fans bobbed in her wake, desperate for a smile and a wave from her well-ringed fingers.

This was the Dubai premiere of Life In A… Metro, Shilpa's first release after Big Brother. The UTV film, directed by Anurag Basu, also stars Konkona Sen Sharma and Kangna Ranaut, apart from Ahuja and Khan. The film had premiered in Sydney, Melbourne and London, before being screened in front of an invited audience at the Grand Cinemas on Wednesday night.

Asked to say a few words before the screening, Shilpa said: "Metro has made history by being the first Indian film to premiere in Leicester Square [London]. I can assure you you'll enjoy the film. I had great fun shooting it."

The stars sat in the last row of the hall and watched the entire film, a wall of men in black keeping away over-enthusiastic fans. After the film ended past midnight, fans were still trying to take pictures of the actors.
