Guitarists join together for Dubai show

Regional guitarists will come together on stage at the Music Room on August 19 for a one-night only event dubbed The Lord of the Strings.

The event will be headlined by Joseph Vijay (VJ Joseph), who was a member of folk band The Raghu Dixit Project. It will also feature guitarists Fadi Stanboulieh from Syria, Alaa Al Faqir from Jordan, Tarek Reda from Egypt, and Venkat Narasimhan, Vivian D’Souza and Ashish Shetty from India.

“Dubai is one of the places I’ve never played in although I have many friends and even family [here]. I know that there are a lot of talented artists over there and I am looking forward to sharing stage with some of these musicians,” said Vijay.

Vin Nair, co-founder of organisers Musicians United, said “you’d be surprised at how many varied influences people have.”

“I think that will come through really well at this event. What we are trying to do here is take guitar playing to the masses and have them all get a sense of the craft,” he said.

Entry to the event is Dh100. Tickets can be purchased online through platinumlist.net.
