The National Museum of Qatar held the award gala for the coveted Fashion Trust Arabia (FTA) Prize 2022 earlier this week, with attendees including Honorary Chair of FTA HH Sheikha Moza bint Nasser, HE Sheikha Almayassa bint Hamad Al Thani, as well as supermodel Bella Hadid, an international pool of judges, renowned fashion designers, industry leaders and VIPs.

The fourth annual FTA Prize award ceremony in Qatar was a star studded affair, with the likes of fashion icon Naomi Campbell, music superstar Janet Jackson, and British actress Jodie Turner-Smith flying in to Doha for the special occasion.

FTA, the first non-profit initiative of its kind launched in the region, supports up-and-coming designers from the Middle East and North Africa with awards of millions of dollars since 2018 to back its cause.

Six major award categories make up the headline event for the fourth edition of FTA 2022: Ready-to-Wear; Accessories; Jewelry; Debut Talent; Evening Wear; and a final special award for an emerging designer from a guest country, which for this year’s event was Turkey.

The first prize of the evening was awarded to Moroccan designer Artsi Ifrach, who is behind his Marrakech-based label Maison ARTC and who took home the Evening Wear laurels. Ready-to-Wear was won by Saudi Arabian sister Siham and Sarah Albinali, while Egyptian designer Fatma Mostafa triumphed in the Jewelry category. From Sudan, Eliaf Osman won the Accessories category, and the Debut Talent prize was awarded to British-Yemeni designer Kazna Asker, with the final premier award going to Turkey’s Burç Akyol.

The spectacular event keeps growing from year to year and we can expect the fifth anniversary edition next time around to keep luring in the stars.
