The UAE Cabinet has given the green light for preparations to implement the policy granting entry visas to transit passengers — across all airports in the country.

The visa will be granted to transit passengers who wish to visit the country's landmarks and tourist attractions.

Whether you have 8, 12, 16 or 24 hours to spend checking out the UAE, we give you the perfect way to spend your precious layover time.

Transit Visa Rules:

Transit visa for 96-hours or less

Transit visas for the UAE are not hard to get but the regulations and requirements are specific enough to require that you plan well in advance in case you want to get out of the airport.

The UAE's airlines handle transit visa for 96-hours valid for 14 days from the date of issue. Transit passengers whose stop is over 8 hours are issued the transit visa by the airlines they are flying with subject to other conditions mentioned below:

1. Passengers must have a valid passport and a confirmed onward booking to the 3rd destination
2. Passengers must leave the UAE within 96 hours of arrival or 14 days after the visa was issued
3. Passengers must have a confirmed hotel reservation in the UAE.

Transit visas cost is Dh100

Organisers explained the arrangements of exhibits are deliberately chronological, meant to create a dialogue between pieces from different cultures. Families, schools, and art enthusiasts can plan a day out visiting the iconic museum and its many different exhibits and workshops. Qasr Al Hosn is the oldest building in Abu Dhabi and symbolizes the historical development as well as the political history of its rulers from 1795 to 1966. The building was developed from a freestanding conical tower built in 1761 to protect the newly discovered water source on the island, into a large and fortified fort for the ruler of Abu Dhabi used for defending the area. Under the patronage of HH Shaikh Shakhbut Bin Dhiab, who ruled Abu Dhabi from 1793 to 1816, the old tower that protected the vital water source was integrated into a larger rectangular fort arrangement. Since that date, the fort became the official seat of rule of the Al Nahyan family until 1966.
