Open Tent at Alserkal Avenue

This is a unique Japanese/Arabic iftar brought to you by CHI-KA, a kimono shop and art space based in Alserkal Avenue, in collaboration with The Lettuce Lab, and supported by Alserkal Avenue.

This year, in collaboration with Dubai-based Swiss-born chef Michael Fessler, known for his creativity and international “savoir faire”, Open Tent offers a menu that brings together Japanese and Middle Eastern cuisine with an out-of-the-box twist. Open Tent is in an indoor setting surrounded by minimalist decor, bonsai gardens, conversation tables, calligraphy murals and live instrumental music nights. The offering includes items such as dates filled with sesame and yuzu, wasabi hummus, taboule maki, batata hara and seaweed salad infused with wasabi and coriander to name a few.

Each Day an Artist by Lawrie Shabibi

Blast Catering has partnered with art gallery Lawrie Shabibi to offer a private iftar within a contemporary art setting. Each Day an Artist is an exhibition conceived for the month of Ramadan where the relationship to time becomes overriding and community is paramount. Every day, a new artist is added for 30 days. Groups of 20 people or more will be able to enjoy a menu inspired by Ramadan traditions from the Levant in combination with today’s modern flavours. Food is shared and enjoyed family style.

Ramadan Nights by Dish

The pop-up restaurant in Al Quoz’s Warehouse Four is back for another year. Ease into your iftar meal with a selection of light starters including roasted garlic hummus, grilled flat bread with burnt eggplant and spiced carrot, lentil and saffron soup. Signature main courses include slow braised lamb shoulder in Middle Eastern spices, corn-fed chicken kofta and cured sea bass served with a frekeh tabbouleh. Side dishes include roast pumpkin, coriander labneh and mixed greens. A vegetarian menu has been introduced that features dishes such as zucchini blossom with saffron and preserved lemon risotto, grilled broccolini with toasted almonds and charred eggplant with tahini yogurt, pomegranate and mint.

Dubai will have its first floating iftar. The majlis, which is located on the ship’s largest deck, can host up to 250 people and offers an Arabic buffet including live cooking stations, traditional Emirati dishes, fresh salads, hot and cold mezze, and abundance of desserts and a selection of classic Arabic juices and coffee.
