Dubai-bred director Japinder Kaur with actor Jackie Shroff on the set of her film “Zaalim Dilli” .

Her debut Bollywood feature may be set entirely in Delhi, but Dubai-raised filmmaker Japinder Kaur isn’t missing an opportunity to showcase the city that she grew up in.

In the first week of May, Kaur will bring the crew of “Zaalim Dilli” to a swanky nightclub in Dubai to shoot a song featuring British Punjabi rapper Yo Yo Honey Singh.

“I love this city and it’s wonderful to know that I will be shooting a song in Dubai. I have also convinced Yo Yo Honey Singh to make his first appearance in a film. The song is called Birthday Bash,” said Kaur in an interview with tabloid!. The singer-rapper, who gained instant stardom after his song Angrezi Beat was featured in Deepika Padukone’s Cocktail, will play himself in the video.

Kaur, 24, who studied in The Indian High School describes her debut film as a slice-of-life comedy. She assisted Prakash Jha of Rajneeti fame before starting working on Zaalim Dilli

“It’s a story about three friends whose car gets stolen from right under their noses and then begins a comedy of errors to find the kingpin,” said Kaur. If all goes well, she will also shoot a romantic song sung by singer Sunidhi Chauhan among the flowerbeds of Dubai’s Miracle Garden.

Zaalim Dilli features rising stars Divyendu Sharma, who has appeared in films such as Pyaar Ka Panchnama and Chasme Buddor; Ira Dubey from Aisha and Miss India Prachi Mishra in a supporting role.
