Dubai: Ex Dubai student Navdip Singh will finally realise his dream when his maiden movie Khwaabb releases in the UAE on May 8. The actor who is in town for the movie’s premiere at the Lamcy Cinema, is confident about the success of his debut vehicle.

“I am sure people will like the movie,” Singh said during an event organised by Globuzz at the Jumeirah Hotel Beach, on the eve of the movie’s release.

The movie has already been making a buzz. During the launch of the film’s music in Mumbai, it garnered much attention after Salman Khan gave it a thumbs up. “Salman liked my work. His support during the music launch has been very encouraging, especially since I’m a newcomer,” said Singh.

Directed by Zaid Ali Khan, Khwaabb is a sports film that captures the journey of an athlete who dreams of winning a medal for India. This backdrop is set in the larger, bureaucratic world of Indian sports. It illustrates why a country with a such a huge population cannot produce medal-winning athletes. The story also has a romantic twist with debutant Simer Motiani playing Singh’s lady love and a champion swimmer.

Delhi-born Singh spent his formative years in Dubai, studying initially at the Modern High School and finishing his schooling at Cambridge International School.
