Chef who likes it spicy
DUBAI An Asian cook landed in court for allegedly taking snaps of women’s breasts and backsides on the Dubai Metro.
B.S., a 28-year-old Pakistani cook, stood trial before the Court of First Instance on Wednesday for taking indecent pictures of unsuspecting female Metro goers.
The case is believed to be the first case of voyeurism reported on the Dubai Metro used by over 320,000 people daily.
chargesheet
The chargesheet indicates that on June 24 at around 11:30pm, an angry female Metro passenger suspected that the man had been taking pictures of female riders on the sly and she promptly complained to a police officer.
M.A., a 23-year-old officer who was the head of the security shift at Al Rashidiya Metro Station at that time, told the court:
“The lady told me that a man was taking photos of women on the Metro as well as Metro stations using his cellphone camera.
“It only took us a short while to narrow down on the suspect,” said M.A.
Court records showed that the suspect was pulled aside by the police officers and asked whether he took photos of women using his phone.
He denied the charges to investigators.
Latest photos
“We asked him to hand over his cellphone and show the latest photos and videos on it. The last video contained footage of the girl who first reported him,” said M.A.
Police also found other photos and videos of unsuspecting females, with the camera closing in on their breasts or backsides.
When B.S. was confronted with the footage, he claimed to have been taking videos and photos of public places.
A police task force picked up the suspect, who was taken to Al Rashidiya Police Station where a complaint was filed against him.
B.S. denied the charges in court. The next hearing is on November 25.
