I’m 28 and hate my fat calves. I’ve tried doing many exercises but they haven’t worked. Can surgery help?

During the consultation, the surgeon will also assess the calf to see how much fat or muscle there is around the area. Depending on his or her findings, it might be possible to do a small amount of liposuction in the area to shape it better or reduce the appearance of the calf muscle. This requires a very skilled and experienced hand; the surgeon would have to ensure that both calves are shaped proportionately.

Our surgeons recommend the Vaser Liposuction technique that uses ultrasound waves set at a frequency to only target the fat cells. Because of its accuracy, it can deal with small areas like the calves to shape evenly, giving good results.

The surgery takes around two hours, and it’s performed under sedation at a day hospital. This is not to be mistaken with general anaesthesia; the patient can return home the same day. You will wear a tight garment around your legs for about a month, but can return to normal activities about a week after the surgery.
