Recipe for pie jars

Peanut butter pie jars are as easy to make as they are to enjoy. Simply assemble the ingredients in a jar as you would for a regular pie. Create a crumbly base, add a peanut butter-flavoured filling, and top it with ganache. It's that simple.

Step-by-step recipe

Preparation time: 30 minutes

Setting time: 10 to 15 minutes

Servings: 2 to 3

40 gms Biscoff biscuits or Graham crackers

100 gms whipping cream

50 gms cream cheese (softened)

60 gms peanut butter (store-bought or homemade)

25 gms fresh cream

25 gms dark chocolate

Peanut butter cups or roasted peanuts for garnish (optional)

Place the biscuits in a blender or food processor and blitz them until they form fine crumbs.

Divide the biscuit crumbs equally among two jars and press them down slightly using a spoon.

In a bowl, whisk the whipping cream until it reaches soft peaks, then add the softened cream cheese and mix thoroughly.

Gently fold the peanut butter into the whipped cream filling using a spatula.

Transfer the peanut butter filling into a piping bag and fill the jars until they are almost complete (about 3/4 full).

Heat the cream and chocolate in a microwave-safe bowl for about 30 seconds, then whisk until the chocolate melts and forms a smooth ganache.

Pour the ganache into the jars over the peanut butter filling.

Place the jars in the fridge and set them for about 10 to 15 minutes.

Once set, remove the jars from the fridge. Divide a peanut butter cup in half and use it as a garnish on the peanut butter pie jars. Alternatively, garnish with some roasted peanuts and serve cold.

1. You can use any biscuit of your choice. If desired, add a tablespoon of melted butter and half a tablespoon of powdered sugar to help bind the base and give it a more pie crust feel.

2. If you do not have a blender or food processor, place the biscuits in a plastic food bag and crush them using a heavy object or a rolling pin.

3. If using unsweetened whipping cream, add some caster sugar as per your requirement before whipping it.

4. Always use softened cream cheese to ensure it mixes properly in the filling.

5. You can make your peanut butter by dry roasting peanuts and blending them in a high-powered blender.

6. Add crushed roasted peanuts in the filling to add some texture.

7. You can use milk chocolate for the ganache if preferred.

8. If you do not want to make individual jars, you can make this pie in a tart shell.
