KINGSMAN: SECRET SERVICE

A street kid (Taron Egerton) is recruited for a spy agency’s ultra-competitive training programme. Think MI6 for teens. But before the training’s finished, he’s called upon to save the world from a twisted tech genius (Samuel L. Jackson). You can’t go wrong with any film that Michael Caine, Mark Strong and Colin Firth put their names to.

THE BOY NEXT DOOR

JLo is back on the big screen in this new thriller co-starring her new toy-boy boyfriend Ryan Guzman (well, if you believe everything you read!) in The Boy Next Door. The hot new guy seems like a welcome addition to the neighbourhood, especially when her husband isn’t giving her any attention. He, however, turns creepy, nay psychotic. If you can get rid of any “Jenny from the block”-type images JLo and see her again as Jennifer Lopez you’ll enjoy this… plus the attractive star Guzman is not only easy on the eyes — he’s very convincing as a love-struck lunatic.

PLAYING IT COOL

Yay, yay and YAY! Finally a new rom-com that’s actually real and funny! Chris Evans is stepping away from his superhero parts of late and showing his softer side in this new flick. Evans narrates as he plays a writer who doesn’t believe in love… until he is forced to write about it and then, turns out — he does believe in it after he falls for a woman played by the familiar faced Michelle Monaghan. We needed a romance in time for Valentines Day (sorry 50 Shades fans, you’ll have to wait for the DVD!) and this is just what the love doctor ordered.

BIG EYES

This flick is based on the true story of a meek woman who stands up to her husband who became one of the most successful artists of the 1950s by passing off her paintings as his own. It’s written and directed by Tim Burton but there’s no Johnny Depp or Helena Bonham Carter. Instead Amy Adams and Christoph Waltz show off their acting chops.
