A story about how a teacher can bring colour into your world, The Miracle Worker, based on Helen Keller’s autobiography, The Story of My Life, is back in Dubai.

The play ran in the city in January and is back by popular demand. The tale, of a girl who suffers from visual and hearing impairments and the teacher who introduces her to education and, in turn, the possibilities the world holds, is told in black and white. (The sets, lighting and make-up are all monochrome.)

The message people should take from the show is “hope and perseverance.” “[They] are the two values I’ve valued over time,” says Jimish Thakkar, the director. “As long as we have hope and perseverance, anything can happen.”

The Miracle Worker runs at The Junction, Alserkal Avenue, from April 27-29. Tickets start at Dh100.
