Dubai Opera to present opera without any singing

One of the first performances at the Dubai Opera, set to open on August 31, is an opera without any singing.

This unconventional instrumental opera by the Orchestra of the Giuseppe Verdi Theatre of Trieste features 12 pieces of music by eight Italian composers including Rossini, Verdi and Puccini. The event will be showcasing overtures and orchestral pieces connected to some of the most famous Italian operas of all time, conducted by Maestro Francesco Quattrocchi.

Held on September 5, the two-hour show starts at 8pm and has a 20-minute interval, with refreshments before and after the event in the foyer of Dubai Opera, which is in Downtown Dubai. Tickets are from Dh300 per person, or Dh4,500 for a box.

Another date for your diary is Emirati singer Hussain Al Jassmi’s concert on October 10, tickets for which went on sale on July 4. The concert kicks off at 9pm, and wraps up at 11pm, with a 20-minute interval scheduled. Tickets range from Dh500-Dh14,400, available from dubaiopera.com.
