Time to get those costumes out.

The Middle East Film and Comic Con (MEFCC), the annual event that celebrates everything pop culture, is coming back for the third time to Dubai. And it’s got a new home.

Hollywood star Seth Green, known for his roles in the Austin Powers films and TV shows such as Buffy the Vampire Slayer, is one of the first celebrities to be announced as a guest at the event, to be held from at the Dubai World Trade Centre from April 3 to 5. Scottish actor Sylvester McCoy, who played the seventh doctor in the long-running British science-fiction series Dr Who in the 80s, and wizard Radagast the Brown in Peter Jackson’s The Hobbit series, will also attend. A number of A-list stars are set to be announced in the coming days, said organisers.

“We are moving to a new venue because we’ve grown bigger this year. We are going to be three times bigger than our first two events with more guests and more artists,” said Arafaat Ali Khan of events and PR firm Extra Cake.

Last year’s celebrity guests included fan boy favourites Warwick Davis, known for his role as Charms Master Professor Flitwick in the Harry Potter films, Alan Tudyk, best known for the 2004 cult hit DodgeBall: A True Underdog Story and New Zealand actor Manu Bennett, who plays Azog in The Hobbit series among others.

The third event has also been extended to three days.

“This year, we are dedicating an entire day to schools and universities who can attend the event as groups and get discounted tickets. We want to make this more educational with work shops and activities geared towards learning,” said Khan.

Besides the celebrity attendants, the MEFCC’s annual highlights include cosplay competitions, where attendees compete as they dress up as their favourite comic book, movie or video game characters; exhibitions by publishers of comic books, games and science fiction films; and a platform for local artists to show off their skills.

A one-day pass to the MEFCC will cost Dh85. Tickets are now on sale. For more information and to find out more about schedules, activities and guests attending, go to mefcc.com
