The ongoing Metro Manila Film Festival held its awards night recently, with the film Bonifacio starring Robin Padilla taking the Best Picture trophy. Derek Ramsey and Jennylyn Mercado were the other big winners, winning the Best Actor and Best Actress plums, respectively, for the film English Only, Please. Box office wise, Vice Ganda’s The Amazing Praybeyt Benjamin was the big winner on day one, grossing the biggest ticket tally among the eight festival entries. Though no official box office figures were released per film, organisers confirmed Ganda’s movie was leading the box office race, followed by the Kris Aquino-starrer, Feng Shui 2, and Vic Sotto’s My Big Bossing.
