The reboot continues the Naked Gun legacy of off-the-wall comedy
Pamela Anderson and Liam Neeson brought both old-school glamour and unexpected affection to The Naked Gun UK premiere in London — with enough PDA to make fans clutch their pearls (or hand sanitiser). At 58, Anderson looked radiant as she kisses the cheek of 73-year-old Neeson on the red carpet at Cineworld Leicester Square, turning heads with their chemistry.
But this wasn’t just premiere-night PR. The two have been openly gushing about each other since filming the reboot of the slapstick franchise. Neeson, who plays bumbling detective Frank Drebin Jr. — son of the legendary character made famous by Leslie Nielsen — previously admitted he was “madly in love” with Anderson. “She’s funny, easy to work with, no ego... and very easy on the eyes, too,” he told People.
Anderson, who stars as a sultry nightclub singer seeking help from Police Squad after her brother’s murder, called Neeson a “friend forever” in a recent interview. “We definitely have a connection that’s sincere and loving,” she said to Entertainment Weekly.
Directed by Popstar: Never Stop Never Stopping’s Akiva Schaffer, the reboot continues the Naked Gun legacy of off-the-wall comedy and deadpan chaos. Alongside Anderson and Neeson, the film stars Paul Walter Hauser, CCH Pounder, Kevin Durand, WWE star Cody Rhodes, Liza Koshy, Eddie Yu, and Danny Huston.
So yes, The Naked Gun may be all about crime, coverups, and catastrophic errors — but if this red carpet moment was anything to go by, it might also be the year’s most unexpectedly sweet love story. Sort of. Sanitise accordingly.
