The singer is busy with her Zombie drama, Newtopia
The Blackpink fanbase, Blinks, took umbrage at a press conference after a reporter addressed a question to Jisoo that fans saw as rather rude.
Recently. the production presentation press conference for the drama Newtopia took place at the Conrad Seoul Grand Ballroom. The series stars Jisoo alongside Park Jung Min, telling the gripping story of a soldier, Jae Yoon (Park Jung Min), and his girlfriend, Young Ju (Jisoo), as they fight to reunite in a zombie-infested Seoul.
During the event, Jisoo participated in a Q&A session, but one exchange quickly gained attention, not for the question, but for the tone.
A reporter asked, "The other Blackpink members have all released solo albums, while you have pursued individual activities through acting. They each achieved number one with their solo projects—what goals do you hope to achieve through your acting career? What achievements do you hope to accomplish through Newtopia?"
Jisoo responded, "I was on the film set most of the time, so when my members achieved success, people around me would congratulate me as well. I received those congratulatory messages as if they were my own, which made me feel even more like we were a family. Thanks to that, I was able to be even more enthusiastic while filming."
Blinks were quick to criticise the reporter for the comparison, with many calling the question inappropriate and disrespectful. One fan wrote, “Bringing up how the other members are 'No. 1' makes me wonder if it was meant as a subtle diss." One fan called the question ‘obnoxious’ while another said, “ "Even as someone who isn’t a fan, that question felt so forced. They're in completely different fields. Jisoo’s solo album did well too, so I don’t get it. It just feels wrong." Recently, Jisoo released album Amortage, which had four tracks.
On the work front, Blackpink is preparing for a world tour, with Lisa, Rose, Jennie, and Jisoo all balancing their solo projects.
