K-Pop Corner: 2PM’s Taecyeon leaves JYP entertainment

2PM’s Taecyeon is confirmed to have left his longtime label JYP Entertainment and has signed an exclusive contract with new entertainment agency, 51K.

On July 25, 51K announced that Taecyeon joined the company and reassured fans that the artist will “continue his 2PM activities in partnership with JYP Entertainment”, despite parting ways with the agency.

JYP Entertainment went on to clarify that 2PM will continue working as a six-member group and will manage their group promotions and future activities.

Taecyeon is the only member to not renew his contract with one of South Korea’s biggest music agencies, while Junho, Jun K, Wooyoung, Chansung and Nickhun resigned in January.

The K-Pop idol is currently serving his mandatory military service and is expected to be discharged on June 3 next year.
