There's a Hugh Grant for every mood, and we have a few suggestions
Whoops-a-daisy!
Yes, it’s summer and it’s time for a Hugh Grant marathon. The vintage, classic Hugh Grant days of Notting Hill, who had the most spectacular way of rejecting a woman gently: ‘The thing is, with you, I'm in real danger. It seems like a perfect situation, apart from that foul temper of yours, but my relatively inexperienced heart would I fear not recover if I was, once again, cast aside as I would absolutely expect to be. There's just too many pictures of you, too many films.”
Topped by Julia Robert’s tearful, “The fame thing isn’t real, you know that right? I’m just a girl, standing in front of a boy, asking him to love her.”
Yes that line is immortal too, and so is this film. Journey back to the golden-ish days of Hollywood romantic comedies and dramas, that were fun, gentle and so moving with simple lines. In Notting Hill, Hugh Grant and Julia Roberts will almost have you convinced that yes, indeed, it is possible to fall in love and marry a film star. The story is straight-forward, with two very believable characters, heartwarming dialogues and a bunch of wild friends to drive it further.
And, if that’s not enough for you, then there’s Two Weeks Notice, starring Sandra Bullock. Just as a good-hearted lawyer decided to quit her annoying boss’s firm… they fall in love. Cue some Hugh Grant-isms of British humour, touching romance and tennis mishaps.
Or, perhaps, get a little musical with Music and Lyrics. The beginning will sweep you in right away, and we aren't complaining.
