With 200 acres of land and its own lakes, Ringo Starr’s estate is a world away from the Liverpool terrace where he grew up.

Rydinghurst, near Cranleigh, Surrey, which The Beatles drummer bought in 1999 for £2 million (Dh12 million), will go on sale this week with an expected price tag of £20 million.

Starr, 74, redesigned the Grade-II listed Jacobean mansion after buying it with his wife, former Bond girl Barbara Bach, 67. The couple, who have five children from previous relationships, are selling the six-bedroom home — with its own cinema, indoor pool, gym, helipad and stables — as they rarely find time to stay there.

They told the Sunday Times they will divide their time between London and Los Angeles.
