He was found deceased at his Los Angeles home
Jeff Baena, a writer and director known for his work on "Life After Beth" and "The Little Hours," has died at the age of 47, as confirmed by media reports.
Baena, who was married to actress Aubrey Plaza, was found dead at his Los Angeles-area home on Friday.
The circumstances surrounding his death remain unclear, and the cause is still under investigation. His cause of death is listed as deferred in coroner records, according to CNN.
Baena and Plaza had collaborated on several projects, including the 2014 horror-comedy "Life After Beth" and the 2017 historical comedy "The Little Hours."
More recently, they worked together on the 2021 comedy series "Cinema Toast" and the 2022 film "Spin Me Round," both of which also featured actor Alison Brie. Brie had previously starred in Baena’s 2020 drama "Horse Girl."
Baena's career began with his co-writing of the 2004 cult classic I Heart Huckabees, which starred Dustin Hoffman and Lily Tomlin. He went on to write and direct the 2016 dramedy Joshy, which starred Thomas Middleditch.
Baena and Plaza were married in a private ceremony in 2021 and had been together since 2011. He is survived by his wife, his parents, stepparents, and several siblings.
