The 78th British Academy Film Awards (BAFTA), one of cinema’s most prestigious events, has commenced at London’s Royal Festival Hall, with actor David Tennant returning as host for the second consecutive year, according to media reports.

Edward Berger’s Conclave dominated with wins for Best Film, Outstanding British Film, Adapted Screenplay (Peter Straughan), and Editing.

Meanwhile, The Brutalist gained momentum in the final stretch, with Brady Corbet winning Best Director and Adrien Brody securing Best Actor. Lol Crawley earned recognition for Cinematography, while Daniel Blumberg won for Original Score.

A three-hour epic about a Holocaust survivor and architect portrayed by Adrien Brody, "The Brutalist" has been nominated in nine categories in Britain's BAFTA award ceremony.

Mikey Madison wins best actress for 'Anora

US film star Mikey Madison on Sunday won the BAFTA award for best actress for her role as a sex worker in the film "Anora".

Accepting the award at the BAFTA ceremony in London, the 25-year-old said she wanted to dedicate the award to "the sex worker community, I see you, you deserve respect and human dignity".

Papal drama 'Conclave' wins best film

Papal thriller "Conclave" on Sunday won the best film category at the BAFTA awards in London.

The film about the intrigue surrounding the election of a new pope beat off stiff competition from "The Brutalist" and "Anora" as well as "Emilia Perez" to win the top prize at the British awards ceremony.
