An honest, hard-working school teacher in a small Bulgarian town wants to nab the little thief in her class so she can teach the culprit a lesson about right and wrong. But when she finds herself trapped in debt to loan sharks, can she find the right way out herself?

The Crow’s Egg by M. Manikandan

Two Indian brothers long to taste their first pizza after seeing a tasty-looking slice on TV. The brothers live with their mother and grandmother in a tiny home in Chennai, with no money to put to their names. Their lives change dramatically after their mother sources a TV set, and they start to yearn for the amazing new world they see portrayed in adverts.

Al Bahr Min Ouaraikoum (The Sea Is Behind) by Hicham Lasri

Tarik lives in a land without colour, a land where water is contaminated by a strange phenomenon. Tarik wears make-up and dresses up as a woman, he dances on a cart drawn by a dying horse and his father has practically abandoned him. One day, Tarik’s horse Larbi stops in the middle of a procession and refuses to take another step forward. Tarik has to learn to live again and surrender to the colours of his life.
