Reports claimed these three public figures received mails threatening bodily harm
Mumbai Police are investigating death threats sent to comedian Kapil Sharma, actor Rajpal Yadav, singer Sugandha Mishra, and choreographer Remo D’Souza, according to reports.
The threats to these Bollywood talents have caused significant concern. A report published on NDTV says that an FIR has been registered under section 351(3) of the BNS, and authorities are treating the matter with urgency.
The email, signed by someone using the name “BISHNU,” demanded replies within 8 hours, warning of severe personal and professional consequences. Rajpal, who received the email in December, discovered it in his spam folder before filing a complaint. Others, including Kapil Sharma, approached the police more recently after receiving similar threats.
This incident follows an escalating wave of violence against public figures, including the October murder of politician Baba Siddique and last week’s attack on actor Saif Ali Khan, who was stabbed in his Mumbai home.
Saif has since been discharged from the hospital and is recovering at home.
The spate of threats and violence have sparked a debate about Bollywood celebrities being soft targets today.
