Remembering Shakeel, a musical drama on the legendary Bollywood lyricist Shakeel Badayuni by Ibadat Foundation, an Indian not-for-profit that hosts events about literary figures, will be held on December 9 at Shaikh Rashid Auditorium, The Indian High School Dubai.
Badayuni was a poet and writer in pre-Independence India, and while other poets at the time were greatly influenced by his social and political surroundings, Badayuni found solace in romantic poetry. Some of his best known songs include Chaudvin Ka Chand (Chaudvin Ka Chand), Na Jao Saiyyan Chhuda Ke Baiyan (Sahib, Biwi Aur Ghulam), Aaj Purani Rahon Se (Aadmi), Bachpan Ke Din Bhula Na Dena (Deedar), Dil Diya Dard Liya (Dil Diya Dard Liya). His songs have been composed by legendary musicians such as Naushad, Ravi and Hemant Kumar, and often sung by Mohammad Rafi.
