Bollywood actor Sanjay Dutt has confirmed reports that a devoted fan once left him her entire estate — worth an astonishing ₹720 million — in her will. The actor, known for his humility and candour, revealed in a recent interview with Curly Tales that he had returned the entire inheritance to the woman's family.

“It is true,” Dutt said when asked about the 2018 reports. However, when questioned about what became of the wealth, the actor simply stated, “I gave it back to the family,” choosing empathy over material gain.

Mumbai homemaker’s final wish

The fan, identified as 62-year-old Nisha Patil from Mumbai, had reportedly been a long-time admirer of Dutt's film career. Battling a terminal illness, she stunned her bank and relatives alike when she declared in writing that she wished to bequeath all her assets — including prime property — to the actor.

The revelation emerged in 2018, drawing significant media attention at the time. Patil’s family was said to be unaware of her decision until the will came to light. Despite having legal rights to the estate, Dutt returned the inheritance, winning praise for his gracious gesture.

Busy schedule ahead for the star

Sanjay Dutt continues to stay active on the film front. He was last seen in Bhootnii and the comedy franchise Housefull 5. The actor is set to appear in the action-packed Akhanda 2, alongside Balakrishna, releasing on 25 September.

Later this year, he stars in Aditya Dhar’s espionage thriller Dhurandhar, sharing screen space with Ranveer Singh, R Madhavan, Arjun Rampal, Akshaye Khanna and Sara Arjun. The film releases on 5 December, clashing with The RajaSaab, which also features Dutt. He’s also part of the upcoming Kannada blockbuster KD – The Devil, scheduled for 2026.
