This Bollywood film was intended to launch the careers of Rasha Thadani and Aaman Devgn

Dubai: In the UAE box office, \Bollywood actioner Azaad struggled to make a mark, recording just 3,311 admissions during its opening weekend—a disappointing turnout for a film intended to launch the careers of Rasha Thadani and Aaman Devgn.
Directed by Abhishek Kapoor of Kai Po Che and Fitoor fame, the film’s performance in India also mirrored its tepid reception, collecting Dh825,000 over its first weekend.
According to reports, the film opened to Dh265,000 on Friday but saw a slight dip to Dh230,000 on Saturday.
Sunday brought a minor recovery with Dh330,000, bringing the total to Dh825,000. Despite its catchy song Uyi Amma gaining traction, the film failed to resonate with audiences, resulting in lackluster growth.
In contrast, Kangana Ranaut’s Emergency, which released alongside Azaad, had a far stronger start.
Azaad’s underwhelming numbers can be attributed to the lack of strong word of mouth, while Emergency continues to gain momentum thanks to positive audience feedback. Both films, however, are still competing with the juggernaut Pushpa 2, starring Allu Arjun, which remains a strong draw at the box office.
With a slow start and increasing competition, Azaad will need a significant boost to recover its footing in the coming days.
