Manila:  Lawmakers here honoured the all-female “P-pop” powerhouse BINI by passing House Resolution No. 2154.

It's a recognition of the group’s many feats, including making the Philippines proud by winning Best Asian Act at the MTV Europe Music Awards (EMA).

The eight-member group, whose music videos have gone viral, gaining adoring fans outside the archipelago, are known for their upbeat hits and synchronised choreo.

They shone on the global stage in November, outshining acts from across Asia.

On January 13, 2025, the Philippine House of Representatives honoured the “P-pop” group in in a special ceremony celebrating their remarkable achievement and contributions to Filipino, and global music.

Who’s BINI?

Formed in 2020 by ABS-CBN and managed by Star Hunt Academy, BINI has eight members: Aiah, Colet, Maloi, Gwen, Stacey, Mikha, Jhoanna, and Sheena. 

Together, they live up to their motto of being “Born to Win”.

Their journey wasn’t all glitz and glamour.

Training

BINI trained for two gruelling years, perfecting their skills before debuting in 2021 with their empowering anthem, “Born to Win.” 

Since then, they’ve been unstoppable, with chart-topping songs like “Golden Arrow” and “Na Na Na,” cementing their status as leaders of the P-pop revolution.

MTV Triumph: Star-making moment

Their MTV EMA win at the Co-op Live in Manchester, UK, was historic.

It marked the first time a Filipino girl group clinched the award. 

Competing against heavyweight acts from Japan, Korea, and Indonesia, BINI proved that P-pop can hold its own on the world stage. 

Their acceptance speech? A heartfelt tribute to their fans, known as “Blooms”, who cheered them on every step of the way.

Congressional citation

On January 13, 2025, the Philippine Congress acknowledged their global feat. 

BINI’s rise is a celebration not just of their talent, but of the untapped potential of P-pop on the international stage. 

It prove once again that this “nation’s girl group” is indeed born to win.
