Dubai: Lenovo’s Yoga 720 two-in-one convertible laptop is a premium device and lightweight.

The 13.3-inch Full HD device which can be rotated 360 degrees houses a 16GB of RAM and a 512GB solid state drive and powered by 2.7GHz Intel i7 processor. The all-metal device weighs around 1.3 kilos and measures just 0.6-inches at its thickest point. The minimal bezel touchscreen is very bright and vivid. It is powered by Windows 10 Home edition and boots in less than eight seconds.

The screen can be used with both the fingers as well as the included Active Pen 2 stylus.

The hinge that converts the device to a tent mode or a tablet mode is excellent and well built. Lenovo hasn’t used the watchband hinge found on most Yoga convertibles.

Regarding ports, it sports a USB Type-C for both data and charging and a Thunderbolt 3 and headphone jack on the on the left side while a USB3.0 and the power button on the right. There is no option for a built-in Ethernet, an SD card reader or an HDMI port.

The backlit keyboard is good with 1.2mm of travel and is good for typing but there is flex at the centre of keyboard. You can feel it when you press the “G” or “H” keys a bit hard.

The keyboard is not as good as found in its ThinkPad models. Lenovo has made the “Shift” key larger than others but not larger than the space bar.

Fingerprint sensor

The 4.1 x 2.7-inch touchpad is spacious and the Windows 10 gestures worked fine. It also houses a fingerprint sensor.

The JBL stereo speakers underneath the keyboard are average with little bass and not loud enough. The disadvantage of the placement of the speakers is that when you work with device on your lap, the sound was terribly inaudible and distorted.

Lenovo hasn’t bloated the apps on this device but just with Lenovo Account to create an account and the Lenovo Vantage to adjust the settings and to update the system while the rest are all Window 10 apps.

During the battery test, it lasted for eight hours and 35 minutes over Wi-Fi, which is pretty average and more than six hours in video streaming.

The device does not get noisy under heavy loads and the heat ventilation is good.

Regarding connectivity, it has 802.11ac Wi-Fi and Bluetooth 4.1. It is priced at Dh4,999.
