Dubai Motor Show 2013: BMW powers up with hybrid sportscar

Fresh from its Frankfurt unveiling in September, BMW’s i8 hybrid sportscar has made its Middle East debut ahead of the sales launch in May.

The top speed is electronically limited to 250-kmh, while it can run on all-electric drive for around 35 kilometres.

The battery of the plug-in hybrid is charged by the petrol engine while driving. All of which plus the fact that it weighs only 1,490 kilograms translates into a range of more than 500 kilometres.
