The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) is reviewing a petition that alleges 500,000 Tesla Model S, Model X, and Model 3 electric vehicles sold in America since 2012 are defective. They could suddenly accelerate and put drivers, passengers, and pedestrians at risk of injury.

There have been 127 consumer complaints related to unintended acceleration issues and a total of 110 crashes and 23 injuries.

The entire range could be defective apart for the Lotus Elise-based Tesla Roadster.
