Almost eight years after the NX luxury crossover nameplate was introduced, Al-Futtaim Lexus has launched the all-new second-generation iteration of the CUV in the UAE. The 2022 Lexus NX gets a thoroughly revised exterior and interior design and comes with a new electrified powertrain.

The refined but prominent spindle grille, along with the four-projector LED headlights with slim adaptive high-beam system and the L-shaped daytime running lights add to the NX’s striking appearance from the front.

The latest model is underpinned by the Lexus Global Architecture K (GA-K) platform. Thanks to a low centre of gravity and front MacPherson strut suspension system featuring double wishbones, along with trailing arms at the rear it promises better handling and comfort than the model it replaces.

The cockpit features the brand’s Tazuna concept initially revealed in the Lexus LF-30 electrified concept car. Taking its name from a Japanese word describing a rider’s use of the reins to control a horse, Tazuna hints at the NX being more direct and intuitive to drive.

An inline four-cylinder, 2.4-litre turbocharged petrol engine that produces 275 horsepower and 430Nm of torque is mated to a new 8-speed automatic transmission. Meanwhile, the new hybrid-electric system combines a 2.5-litre petrol engine and two electric motors producing 188 hp and 234 hp, respectively offering a combined power of 240 horsepower.
