Bentley Motors has revealed images and full details of the new 2021 Bentayga Speed – the performance flagship of the Bentayga family. The hand-built super-SUV combines a massive W12 powertrain with the finer things that come standard with what is one of the most luxurious SUVs in the world.

True to the characteristics associated with Speed models that came into vogue with the Continental GT in 2007, the new Bentayga Speed maintains the performance of its predecessor, thus retaining the title of the world’s fastest SUV.

Built on the refreshed design of the 2021 Bentayga, the new Speed is powered by a 6.0-litre W12 twin-turbocharged engine that delivers peak power of 626bhp and a whopping 900Nm of torque. Top speed is 306kph, while the 0-100kph sprint is delivered in 3.9 seconds.

The Bentayga Speed is equipped with four on-road Drive Dynamics modes: Comfort, Sport, Custom and the Bentley mode, which is apparently the balanced recommendation of the chassis team in Crewe. The Sport mode has been recalibrated to enhance response from the W12 engine and the eight-speed automatic transmission, together with the air suspension system and Bentley Dynamic Ride.

It can also be ordered in Black Specification, which replaces all exterior chrome work, bright detailing and some elements of the body with gloss black or carbon fibre versions. The front bumper splitter and the side sills are created by hand in carbon fibre, while the rear bumper diffuser becomes gloss black. All exterior brightware including the roof rails will be in gloss black, as are the 22-inch Bentayga Speed wheels and exhaust finishers.

Bentley says the Bentayga Speed will be offered for sale in those regions where demand for 12-cylinder SUVs remains strong – the Americas, Middle East and Asia Pacific regions.
