Anil Kapoor cancelled two important engagements in Mumbai to fly to Los Angeles to attend a charity event for Pratham, child literacy organisation.

"I had to leave suddenly because I was called for a charity event in LA for Pratham, the child literacy organisation that I'm closely associated with. I thought that was more important than anything else," said Kapoor.

The actor was supposed to be in Mumbai for two important occasions.Supercop Isaque Bhagwan, whom Kapoor will portray in Sanjay Gupta's Shootout At Wadala, had invited the star for his son's wedding on November 25.

Then Kapoor's friend David Dhawan's son Rohit wanted him to be at a special screening of his directorial debut Desi Boyz tomorrow.

"I am sure David and Isaque would understand. In fact I've assured Isaque I will visit his home to bless the couple the minute I land in Mumbai," said the actor, adding: "As for David, he's a dear friend. I've had great fun working with him. I am really eager to see his son's Desi Boyz. How is it doing?"

Kapoor will be back in town to receive his Mission: Impossible — Ghost Protocol co-star Tom Cruise, who is arriving in Mumbai on December 2.

"All he told us was that he had to leave for the US suddenly. He didn't tell any of us why. I'm presuming it is to fetch Tom Cruise for the Mission Impossible 4 premiere in Mumbai," said a source.
