Dubai: Al Wahda moved up to second spot in the Arabian Gulf League standings with a 3-1 win at Emirates in Ras Al Khaimah on Friday evening.

Early goals from Leonardo de Souza and Mourad Batna gave the visitors from Abu Dhabi a perfect start but Cheick Diabate pulled one back for the hosts in the 23rd minute.

Mourad Batna restored the two-goal cushion just before the break and that was enough for the three points. Emirates have now slipped down to 12th in the AGL table.

Bottom side Al Dhafra defeated Al Wasl 2-1 to register their first win of the season thanks to a strike from Suhail Salem Al Mansouri and a late own-goal from Wasl’s Hazza Salem Al Farsi. Caio Canedo Correa had earlier scored for the visitors from the spot.
