Fujairah-based artist Haley Haddow is exhibiting a collection of glass artworks at Le Méridien Al Aqah until January 13. Visitors can view and buy functional glass pieces such as bowls, platters and vases, as well as decorative hanging wall panels. Each piece has been transformed from a single glass into a work of art using cutting, layers, fusing, grinding and polishing techniques. The display also includes a few tactile pieces which will encourage people to experience the look and feel of the works.

Classical music: Shostakovich conducts

The classical music scene in Abu Dhabi just got better. Music lovers will be thrilled with a musical pairing which is designed to entertain both serious symphony enthusiasts and fans of the animated classics. Acclaimed classical conductor Maxim Shostakovich will perform on Saturday, January 10, at the Emirates Palace auditorium for an evening titled Shostakovich conducts Shostakovich. The next day, the Abu Dhabi National Theatre features The Magical Music of Walt Disney. The Philharmonic Orchestra, London, under conductor Allan Wilson, will bring to life a repertoire of timeless Walt Disney classics from some of the most popular animated movies of all time.
