Dubai" Graduating from university is among a person's most treasured memories. For 115 Dubai Medial College (DMC) and Dubai Pharmacy College (DPC) students, the occasion was all the more special as His Highness Shaikh Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, conferred their degrees on Tuesday.

Shaikh Mohammad congratulated the medical and pharmacy graduates and wished them success in their professional lives.

‘Unbelievable'

"It was unbelievable. We always see Shaikh Mohammad on TV so it was great to receive our degrees from him," said Sumaiya Iqbal Maklai who was among the top five students from DMC. Top pharmacy student Salma Ghawji said the graduation ceremony was the first time many students had seen Shaikh Mohammad in the flesh. "It was amazing to see him in person," she said.

With exclusively women students of more than 30 nationalities, the college conferred degrees on 53 students from the medical college and 62 students from the pharmacy college. This year marks the medical college's 19th batch of graduates and the 14th batch for the pharmacy college.

Twenty-seven Emirati students received their degrees. "The colleges have grown from strength to strength with pioneering teaching models and best practices and have created a niche for quality medical and pharmacy education in the Gulf region today," said Haj Saeed Bin Ahmad Al Lootah, Founder and Chairman of the Board of Trustees of Dubai Medical College and Dubai Pharmacy College.
