The theme this week is, ‘exclusive and unusual breeds’. That is, a celebration of our mixed breeds! Many of the welfare groups are very creative when listing their crossbreeds and I think it’s a great idea to try and banish the snobism and stigma that mix breeds can sometimes experience. For example: Listed on Adopt-me we have, ‘Golden Retrukis’, ‘Collie-Shepherds’, ‘Cutie-Pies’, ‘Snowy Puffballs’, ‘Albino Hound’ and ‘Dubai Retriever’.

Peggy - Ras Al Khaimah Animal Welfare Centre ( RAK AWC)

Meet Peggy “The BIG Ears”, a lovely miniature shepherd who just loves cuddles. Peggy is not a big girl and she will happily climb on your lap and ask for tummy rubs the moment she sees you. And of course you can see that Peggy has the most amazing ears that are just hard not to fall in love with! This is what his foster mum said: “Kallum is an absolute sweetheart who will slot so easily into living with a family. He is completely house-trained, loves human company and I’m sure would adore children, too. As for other dogs, he is definitely a ladies’ man.” Kallum needs to find a home as soon as possible as the male dog in the family has taken a dislike to him and is constantly picking on him. Kallum seems to have fallen head over heels in love with the female dog in the home and just follows her around everywhere and wants to play with her all day long or just stares at her! Pinky & Perky - Feline Friends

Pinky and Perky are two male Birman/Siamese kittens, known as Birmanese; born about May 2014. Their personality is much more Birman than Siamese. So if you don’t like the loud cry and constant need for attention of a Siamese these are the boys for you! Perky, as befitting his name, is much more outgoing than his brother. He’s usually the one batting a bottle cap around the floor while Pinky watches. Pinky, however, is extremely agile and can jump, chase, and catch the mouse on the fishing pole. Both of them have the normal kitten inquisitiveness and are fascinated by things such as the whirling clothes in the washing machine. They are both delightful kittens and would suit a single or a family with school aged children who are familiar with animals.
