Abu Dhabi

We have a lovely dog called Blizzard who is much loved by our family and our other dogs. He is so gentle and is a rescue dog, which makes him even more precious. Sadly, he went missing from our home in Mohammad Bin Zayed City in Abu Dhabi on January 21.

He was last seen around 3pm by children who live in the compound. He is microchipped and wears a brown leather collar. He has the most beautiful blue eyes, like the colour of the ocean (as seen in photograph).

Blizzard was abandoned as a puppy as he had a skin condition. That’s when he was rescued by an animal shelter. He is now about 15 months old and was being boarded in a veterinary clinic in the emirate. So, my family decided that since we had moved to a secure compound, we would foster him.

We brought him home and even though we were just going to foster him to start with, after spending some time with us we decided that since he fitted in so well with the family, we would adopt him and give him his ‘forever home’. However, someone left the gate of the compound open and he might have escaped.

He was particularly attached to my son, who even slept in his bedroom for Blizzard to have some company. He greeted us when we had been out long, with a howl that was at the delight of seeing us. With three grown up children at home, he was barely left at home without company.

Since he went missing we have contacted all the vets, put up reward posters on notice boards, walked the streets calling out his name, done compound searches, spoken to people and put an advertisement on every local animal rescue website. We have even been to the animal souq in Abu Dhabi to see if he had been stolen and was for sale.

The odd thing is that there has not been any sighting of Blizzard since he went missing. The gentle giant is missed so much by our family. I request the readers, if you have seen Blizzard or know someone who has acquired a husky that looks like our dog, have a heart and return him to his home. It would mean a great deal to my family.
