Dubai: Dogs are man’s best friend. It’s our turn to be theirs, says Dubai-based pet healer Eliana Eleftheriou.

For years dogs have been used to heal people suffering from stress, anxiety and depression. But what many do not know is that they too experience stress and negativity, which can lead to illnesses. And they too need healing, says Eliana.

A master theta healing practitioner and teacher, Eliana says she has treated hundreds of dogs using theta healing.

“It is a meditation technique to help people connect with their sub-conscious level to remove negativity. The same theory can be applied to animals too. Storing negativity in the sub-conscious mind leads to physical ailments. Dogs are known to absorb the negativity in the house. It is important that we help the dog get rid of the pent-up emotions through regular healing sessions,” says Eliana.

For pet’s sake

She adds theta healing increases a pet’s emotional health and overall wellness. “The healing also works when a pet is unable to build a relationship with a family member.”

One of the techniques that Eliana applies on dogs is ‘muscle testing’.

“It is a technique I have learnt from kinesiology, a study of the mechanics of body movements. It helps me get into a dog’s sub-conscious mind and see if it is holding onto any negative emotions.”

Eliana also practises ‘energetic acupuncture’ which she says is equally powerful.

“Through these sessions, I teach a dog how to receive and store love in its sub-conscious mind.”

She charges Dh600 for an hour’s healing session. “You will see a marked difference just after a couple of sessions,” she says.

The sessions can be done remotely or in the presence of the owner.
