Dubai: A former loader with a Dubai company, whose singing talent was discovered in a labour camp contest, has released a music video on a global platform.

Ammar Saeed, 28, who emerged as the first runner-up in the Smart Idol talent hunt show held in his Dubai workers' camp in 2015, said his original soundtrack Sitam was launched on Selfie TV, an online entertainment channel in Dubai, on July 3.

Grateful

“I can’t believe the video is out,” said Saeed, grateful that his talent has catapulted him not just onto a global singing platform, but also in his career.

“I always wanted to be a professional singer. My singing has also earned me a lot of recognition and appreciation at work. I have been fortunate to have received four promotions in three years at my company. I currently serve as deputy accommodation manager,” said Saeed.

Hailing from Faislabad in Pakistan, Saeed said he had written and sung Sitam, a song about a girl and a boy breaking up. “It took me one year and two months to execute this track and its audio was recorded in Lahore.”

He said the video was shot in three locations in Dubai, including Al Qudra Lakes and two restaurants.

Original soundtrack

Sahar Mahmud, founder of Selfie TV who directed and produced the music video, said, “When Saeed approached me with his original soundtrack, I wanted to support him and turn his dreams into reality.”

She said Saeed was a natural singer and a lot of people could relate to his voice.

The video’s music was scored by J. Ali, with the 5Vocalz band and composition by Danish Ali and Saeed. Adeel Abbas is the director of photography.

The female lead on the video is played by Sonia Harchandani and the male lead is portrayed by Zain Malik.
