Dubai: My Small Community, an app that connects neighbours in three free-hold communities, has launched a Halloween map for children to identify houses where they can get treats on the All Saints’ Eve day.

The map is integrated into the app allowing its 13,000 users to access it from the home page. Residents interested in partaking in the Halloween celebrations and opening their doors for children coming for treats have to register on the app.

“They have to click on a button on the map to include their house for the trick or treat celebration held every year on October 31,” said Philippe Khouri, co-founder of the app.

A separate window on the map allows residents and their children to upload their pictures in Halloween gear for a community competition.

My Small Community app currently has users from Emirates Living, Dubai Marina and Jumeirah Lakes Towers (JLT)

“Halloween is always a big event in Emirates Living. Children start trick or treating from as early as 6pm. Some houses are not familiar with the customs and do not keep treats for children. So we thought why not introduce a feature on the app which will help children identify houses giving away treats easily,” said Khouri.

“Users will be able to see the most liked pages and see the latest photo uploaded on the app. Kids on the other hand will follow the map to visit houses taking part in the celebrations.”
