ABU DHABI: Two working mothers based in Dubai, Antonia Ellis and Carla Lewis, found themselves short of time to make fresh homely meals for their children. So they quit their corporate jobs and created Yum by Mum, the first dedicated child meal plan in UAE, this August.
They cook fresh meals from the comforts of their kitchen to cater to children from one to seven years. The meals are delivered to the doorstep at the times mentioned by the clients.
“For adults you can easily order food or buy a readymade meal from the supermarket. But for babies and children, there are no fresh alternatives available. We wanted to provide food that parents could feel good about,” said Carla.
“Our meals are mostly based on recipes our mothers made for us. We have added a lot of extra vegetables to maximize the nutrition content,” added Antonia.
After delivering more than 1500 meals in Dubai, they have now rolled out their services to Abu Dhabi.
Fresh and tasty
The meals are prepared with 100% fresh ingredients and do not contain any added salt, sugar or preservatives. Carla’s daughter Scarlett and Antonia’s daughters Matilda and Jemima, serve as the official food tasters. Every day the food is prepared, immediately packaged and delivered within a few hours.
“Since our launch in Dubai, we started to receive a lot of requests from mums in Abu Dhabi. After a lot of planning between our kitchen and logistic companies we started delivering there too,” said Carla.
“We hope to cover the whole of UAE soon as many working parents would benefit from our services,” concluded Antonia.
