ABU DHABI: Aspen Heights British School, a new British curriculum school in Abu Dhabi, marked its official opening on October 2 by planting two tree in the school ground. Located in Al Bahya, the school offers classes from FS1 (kindergarten) to Year 6.
“We hope to develop eco-minded citizens with awareness of environmental sustainability and global responsibility in all aspects of learning,” said Shehab Al Hashemi, chairman of Aspen Heights, on the occasion.
Facilities
The school boasts an extensive list of facilities including state-of-the-art science laboratories, gymnasium, cafeteria, IT rooms, dance studio, library, music rooms, food technology rooms, shaded outdoor play area and netball pitch, among others.
From FS1, children will be exposed to a range of learning apps using iPads and tablet technology, augmented reality (AR) and control technology such as remote control devices and drones.
“We facilitate learning that is fun, engaging and effective, using environmental themes to inspire globally responsible citizens of the future. With the tree planting we wanted to reflect our vision of a collaborative, memorable community which demonstrates children’s amazing learning and progress,” said Emma Shanahan, principal of the school.
