Ras Al Khaimah: If you love yoga and cats, then this pawsome workout could be just the thing for you. Launched by the Ras Al Khaimah Animal Centre, the unique session gets cats on your mats in a fun-filled way that promises to calm your mind, body and soul.
Innovative bonding experience
Lana Karim, marketing manager, RAK Animal Welfare Centre, said the innovative bonding experience is aimed at encouraging cat adoption and raising funds.
“Even if a yoga session doesn’t result in an adoption, the creative idea will create awareness about animals looking for permanent homes,” she said.
Buoyed by the response of their inaugural cat-yoga session on July 22, the shelter has decided to hold monthly classes at its premises on Al Hamra Islands.
“You don’t necessarily need a pet cat to attend the classes as you always can pick one from the centre,” she said.
Lana said they are also planning to introduce Doga or yoga with dogs from October followed by zumba with dogs by year end. The one-hour yoga with cats costs Dh100. All proceeds will go towards the welfare of animals.
