ABU DHABI: Amanda Tinnin, a certified coach from the Parent Coaching Institute (PCI), is conducting a free workshop at My First Gym on Delma Street this weekend.

To be held on September 9, the workshop is aimed at helping parents communicate better with their children and offer tips on how to deal with tantrums and mood swings.

“My workshop intends to help parents feel that they are not alone in a very common struggle,” said Tinnin, founder of Little Gifts Consultancy FZE, a parent coaching service in Abu Dhabi.

One of the few practising PCI coaches in GCC, US expat Tinnin said she enrolled for an online PCI programme when she became a mother of two kids and found herself struggling for guidance.

“The PCI model is built on maintaining sustainable relationships with children and appreciating their strengths,” said Tinnin.

No one-size-fits-all solution

According to her, parenting has no one-size-fits-all solution.

“If you want lasting change in yourself, your partnership abilities and communication with your child, you have a good deal of work to do. But there are resources and people to help you out. I focus on emotional awareness and developing the inner strength of parents to help them attain a long-term effect,” she said.
