SHARJAH: Parents of special needs children in the UAE will soon be able to store the medical and academic records of their kids in an e-vault so that the documents can be accessed from anywhere in the world.

The digital locker will be available on www.tissmiles.org, a newly launched website dedicated for children of determination.

“Currently there is no facility where parents of special needs children can keep important and usable documents digitally,” said Hari Adichanalloor of Sharjah based organisation Team India Smiles which is behind the initiative.

Ensuring privacy

“The digital locker will give access to documents quickly and securely, eliminating the need for paper medical records altogether. The vault will be password protected to ensure privacy,” he said.

Plans are also underway to introduce live streaming sessions between parents and health experts on various topics.

Inclusive education

Among a host of other things, the website will also address the issue of inclusive education for special needs children in the country.

“There are nearly 10,000 special need children in the UAE. Our aim is to help them integrate into mainstream society,” said Adichanalloor.
