Abu Dhabi: Al Seef Resort and Spa by Andalus in Abu Dhabi has launched a book donation drive, besides book-reading sessions for kids in the run-up to World Literacy Day on September 8.

Called ‘Donate to Knowledge’, the initiative encourages residents, guests and the public to donate books for the benefit of the children’s charity, Operation Smile. The books can be dropped off at the First Impressions Desk in Al Seef Resort & Spa by Andalus or at the Jannah Hotels & Resorts in Dubai and Abu Dhabi.

Caroline Delbecque, CEO of Andalus Hotels and Resorts, said, “We have collected over 400 books so far. They will be sold at the bi-yearly book sale of Operation Smile UAE in Abu Dhabi, with the proceeds going to underprivileged children around the world.”

“Gaining knowledge and learning new things starts from reading and we are very proud to be part of this Year of Reading initiative to show our support for the UAE. It is very heartwarming to know that people have been so quick and eager to donate to the cause,” added Delbecque.

The resort’s reading sessions are being held between 11am and 4pm at its lobby every Friday.
