10 make it to Young Author Awards shortlist

To be held in Dubai in April 2018, the inaugural awards will recognise the next generation of authors

DUBAI: Ten distinctive young authors have been shortlisted for the inaugural International Young Author Awards which will be held in Dubai in April 2018.

While Nikita Singh (Every Time It Rains), Zuni Chopra (The House That Spoke), Mrinalini Mitra (Belief) and Anuj Tiwari (It’s Not Right…But it’s Okay) have been shortlisted for their stellar works of fiction, Mannu Pillai (Ivory Throne), Izy Hossack (Top with Cinnamon), Amand Shukla and Poulomi Pavini (Weakest on the Earth - Orphans of India), Puja Changoiwala (The Front Page Murders: Inside the Serial Killings that Shocked India) and Sfurti Sahare (Think and Win like Dhoni) have been pre-selected for their non-fiction books.

The awards ceremony was supposed to be held last month, but the event was postponed and will now take place in April 2018.

Deeba Salim Irfan, founder of the awards and the chairperson of the advisory board, said, “These are our first awards, and we want to execute them as envisioned even if a bit delayed.”

Literary Creative Awards

According to her, nominations for the Literary Creative Awards are still open. The categories are Innovative Social Media Usage, Ambient Media for a literary purpose, Innovative PR, Creative Book Launch and Out of the Box.
