DUBAI The Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) has urged Dubai residents to switch to the green bill as printed invoices will no longer be sent as of April 1.
DEWA flyers e-mailed to customers this week asked them to hurry and register for the green bill through DEWA’s smartapp or on its website www.dewa.gov.ae. All customers who are registered with DEWA can sign up for the Green Bill by providing their email-IDs.
The green bill is an electronic version of the paper bill which will be sent to customers by email every month as soon as the latest bill is ready. DEWA on its website said: “Switch to green bill for your convenience and to save the environment. The green bill offers you the convenience of viewing and paying your DEWA bill online – simply and securely, whenever and wherever you wish.”
Enhances security
The advantages of the green bill are many. According to DEWA, it is easy to use and convenient. It is also faster as it eliminates delays from standard mail delivery. “It provides an online record of all bills and payments made and enhances security as it checks the flow of personal information from unsecured mailboxes where paper mail can be a target for theft.” Above all, it is eco-friendly as it reduces paper usage and helps save trees.
Meanwhile, organisations and companies can also ask for a Green Statement, which is an electronic summary of billing, payments and outstanding dues of all the contract accounts under their collective account (statement code). They will receive an email monthly with a link to the DEWA website for downloading the collective account statement (green statement) and individual bills for their collective account.
